Wild goaltender Gustavsson named NHL’s Third Star of the Week

On Monday afternoon the NHL announced the “Three Stars” for the week ending on Sunday, October 20.

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson earned the Third Star of the Week for his performances throughout the week. He went 2-0-0 on the week with a 1.00 goals against average and a .962 save percentage.

On Oct. 15 he was stellar, saving 27 of the 28 shots he faced in a 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues, along with becoming the first goalie in franchise history to score a goal. Then, on Oct. 19 he saved 23 of the 24 shots he fielded between the pipes in a 3-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Gastavsson is now 3-0-1 on the young season with a 1.49 GAA and .950 save percentage.

Florida forward, Sam Reinhart was the NHL’s First Star of the week with nine points (four goals and five assists) over four games. New York Rangers forward Artemi Planarian was named the Second Star of the Week after totaling eight points (four goals and four assists) over three games.

The Wild will return to the ice on Tuesday, October 22 when they visit the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Fla. with puck drop scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
