Minneapolis considering $30,000 settlement for witness to George Floyd murder who cites “emotional distress”

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Today a Minneapolis City Council committee will consider paying a witness to the George Floyd murder $30,000 dollars in a settlement.

Charles McMillan filed a legal claim against the city for emotional distress. He also testified during former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin’s 2021 murder trial.

Earlier this year, the City Council approved a $150,000 settlement with another eyewitness who claims he was assaulted by police while trying to interrupt Floyd’s arrest.
