East Grand Forks man arrested after pursuit in Walsh County

(WALSH COUNTY, ND) – A 39-year-old East Grand Forks, Minn., man is in jail following a pursuit in Walsh County Saturday night.

Sergeant Christopher Schaefer says the chase began at 5:46 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle crossed over the center line northbound on Highway 81 south of Minto. A Highway Patrol trooper turned around on the vehicle after nearly colliding with it head-on. The chase then proceeded onto both a gravel and minimum maintenance road, where troopers lost the vehicle. The Walsh County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle a short time later on Highway 81 south of Grafton, where the chase resumed. The vehicle was eventually stopped east of Grafton.

39-year-old Andrew Nord was arrested and faces multiple charges, including DUI, fleeing and reckless endangerment. He was taken to the Walsh County Jail in Grafton.

The pursuit lasted 38 minutes and covered 21 miles, Sgt. Schaefer said.

No one was injured.
