Biden and Dems call for more disaster aid funding after Hurricanes Helene and Milton

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Biden is joining Democrats in calling for Congress to pass disaster aid funding following two devastating hurricanes.

Biden told reporters Thursday that it’ll take the Small Business Administration several billion dollars to help businesses in the southeast recover after hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson has said relief will be passed after the election and has so far resisted bringing lawmakers back from break to D.C. Johnson says it’ll take time for states to figure out exactly what they need.
