ST. PAUL, MN — Elective surgeries across the nation are facing IV fluid shortages due to the impacts of hurricane Helene and in preparation for Hurricane Milton.
The Minnesota Hospital Association, who represents 140 hospitals and health systems across the state, are speaking to health care providers daily to ease concerns after a North Carolina facility temporarily paused production of the fluids. The second largest IV fluid maker is in Florida, and have closed their doors in anticipation for Hurricane Milton.
The Minnesota Hospital Association says elective surgeries are impacted the most, which includes non-emergent tumor removals or other elective surgeries.
