Fargo Fire Station temporarily closes due to structural concerns

FARGO, ND — Fire Station number 5 in Fargo is temporarily shutting their doors for significant reconstruction and renovations after the discovery of shifting ground beneath the building.

The structure, located near the intersection of 40th Street South and 9th Avenue South West, due to the foundation beginning to tilt. A Fargo spokesperson says a full rebuild is needed for a portion of the structure, and a modernization of the building will be completed at the same time.

Nearby fire stations within Fargo are expected to cover the area which was previously watched by Fire Station 5.

$2.5-million dollars has been allocated by the city for the repairs.
