Bismarck man pleads guilty to charges in death of Mercer County Deputy

(BISMARCK) — A Bismarck man has changed his pleas in a case linked to a December 2023 death of a Mercer County Deputy. 43-year-old Ian Cramer appeared Friday from jail for a court appearance, where he admitted to leading Mercer County Deputy Paul Martin on a high-speed vehicle chase behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle, taken from his mother. During the chase, Cramer rammed the car into Martin’s cruiser, fatally injuring the deputy. Cramer faces up to 20 years in prison on the homicide charge. He faces other charges in the case.
