Former South Dakota AG’s license suspended

(PIERRE, SD) — Former South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg’s law license has been suspended.

The South Dakota Supreme Court on Wednesday suspended Ravnsborg’s license for a period of six months. In its ruling, the high court said Ravnsborg ‘dishonestly communicated with investigators in an effort to diminish or avoid criminal culpability.’

The court said that, while Ravnsborg is ‘unlikely to continue practicing law in South Dakota,’ the suspension is ‘necessary to preserve the integrity of the profession and deter like conduct by other attorneys.’

Ravnsborg struck and killed Joe Boever on September 12, 2020.
