Fire damages garages in Fargo

(FARGO) – This afternoon, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Fargo Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 4530 16th Avenue South. While enroute, crews received updated information indicating rapid fire growth, with smoke visible from several blocks away.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered two separate rows of garages burning—one at 4530 16th Avenue South, and a second at 4602 16th Avenue South. Due to the extent of the fires and today’s unusually high temperatures, a second alarm was called to ensure adequate resources. Firefighters worked efficiently to contain the fire to the two involved structures.

As a result of the quick response and coordinated efforts, the fires were knocked down within 25 minutes of the first engine’s arrival. Structural damage was mostly confined to two garages, one in each row, while four additional garages sustained minor damage. One vehicle parked inside a garage was also affected. No injuries were reported, and no living spaces were impacted.

The scene remains active as the investigation into the fire’s cause continues. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
