(FARGO) — At just after 9 a.m. this morning, the Fargo Fire Department received a report of a fire in a three-story apartment building at 202 6th Avenue North. The initial report was that an electric bike (e-bike) battery was on fire in an apartment and the fire was spreading to other parts of the unit.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from the unit on the first floor. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and confined the damage to the one apartment.
No one was injured in the fire. The residents of the unit were able to evacuate before firefighters arrived. As a result of the fire, the residents have been temporarily displaced from the unit.
The apartment sustained significant smoke damage. The cost of the damage is estimated at $10,000. The cause of the fire was determined to be a damaged e-bike battery that was on a charger.
