Vikings comeback to beat Falcons behind backup quarterback

(Atlanta, GA) — Recently acquired quarterback Joshua Dobbs comes off the bench to lead the Vikings to a 31-28 comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Dobbs came over in a trade with the Cardinals on Tuesday and didn’t take a practice rep all week and only knew parts of the game plan. He wasn’t expected to play until starting quarterback Jaren Hall suffered a concussion, Dobbs came in and struggled early. A sack that led to a safety and two fumbles put the Vikings down 11-3 before Dobbs found his grove as he conducted a 75-yard touchdown drive to pull the Vikes within one at the half.

In the 2nd half, Dobbs showed what he was about as he ran for a touchdown and then when his team needed a gotta-have-it drive with his team down four he conducted the two-minute drill to perfection by driving deep into Atlanta territory until a 3rd and four from the Falcon seven-yard line when Dobbs found Brandon Powell for a touchdown to give the Vikings an improbable comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons, 31-28.

The Vikings announced today that Dobbs will start on Sunday when the Vikings host the New Orleans Saints at U.S Bank Stadium. The game is at noon on FOX.
