Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton school lockdown lifted following morning gunshots near campus

(Dilworth, MN) — A temporary lockdown of a local elementary school has been lifted following a “shots-fired” incident.

The Dilworth Police Department says they were alerted to the calls at approximately 10:43 a.m, when witnesses say 3-4 gunshots were heard near 208 5th Street NW. Officers searched the area where gunfire was heard and found several bullet casings on the ground. A complete search was conducted in surrounding residences and apartment buildings. Due to the proximity of the gunfire, DGF Elementary School was placed on lockdown temporarily, and has since returned to normal operations.

Officials within the Dilworth Police Department say there is no danger to the public at this time, saying witnesses believe the person involved was possibly target shooting. An investigation into the incident is still ongoing at this time.
