Becker County man sentenced to two months after fatal shooting

(BECKER COUNTY, MINN) – A Frazee man will spend two months in jail following a deadly shooting in Becker County.

Willis McDonald was sentenced last week in the Seventh Judicial District.

Court documents state McDonald shot a man on August 10 at a trailer park near Frazee. When authorities arrived on scene, they learned McDonald left the scene. He called authorities later to say he was at his home, where he was arrested without incident.

A single shot was fired at the victim, according to court documents, although McDonald attempted to use the handgun a second time and, when he pulled the trigger, the gun did not fire.

The victim died from a single gunshot wound to the chest of intermediate to distant range, according to the medical examiner’s report.
