Rollins visits NDSU, hears from stakeholders in ag

(FARGO, ND) – For the second straight day, a leader from the Trump administration is in North Dakota.

Senator John Hoeven invited Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins, and North Dakota State University hosted the Secretary, Hoeven, Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak, Governor Kelly Armstrong and Ag Commissioner Doug Goehring, among other ag commodity leaders. They hosted the event at North Dakota State University’s Peltier Complex.

She was in Fargo to listen to stakeholders regarding their concerns within the ag sector.

Julie Ellingson, representing the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, told Rollins that North Dakota has been able to get enough tags to satisfy a 2025 USDA electronic ear tag rule, which mandates RFID tags for interstate movement of certain cattle and bison, that is in effect. But it hasn’t been easy.

“This is the first I’ve heard of the shortage of tags,” Rollins said. “I’m going to get on that right away.”

Rollins said she’d be following up with key agencies.

Andrew Mauch, board member of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association, told Rollins the group supports the ability to have E-15 available to sell at gas pumps year-round.

“We can have that option at the pumps year-round,” he said.

Rollins said the key is to make sure the idea of E-15 year-round is moving, and it’s something she says President Donald Trump is supportive of.
