(VATICAN CITY, ROME) – The Vatican has announced the cause of death of Pope Francis.
In a communication Monday, the Vatican says the Pope died at 7:35 a.m. Central European Summer Time. The cause was listed as stroke, which led to a coma and ‘irreversible cardiovascular collapse.’
The 88-year-old was recovering from pneumonia in both lungs. He had previously been hospitalized for more than a month.
