Pope Francis dies

VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis died from a stroke according to The Vatican.

His death certificate says Francis died in his apartment at 7:35 a.m. local time from cerebral stroke, coma and irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse. It also listed previous health issues contributing to his death.

Cardinal Kevin Farrell said Francis “returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized.” He said there’s immense gratitude for Francis’ example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus.

Born Jorge Bergoglio in Argentina in 1936, Pope Francis, the first leader of the Catholic Church from the Americas, was 88 years old.
