Walz, others discuss proposed health care cuts, impact on Minnesotans

(ST. PAUL, MINN) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz joined lawmakers, state officials, doctors and advocates to discuss the impact of federal health care cuts proposed by the Trump Administration.

The changes proposed to Medicaid and health care funding could result in $880 billion in cuts to more than one million Minnesota residents. The state could lose as much as $1.6 billion in federal support for federal programming, potentially putting hundreds of thousands of Minnesota’s lives at risk, Walz told those gathered.

John Connolly, state Medicaid director, says the $880 billion figure ‘represents a direct threat to the health and wellbeing’ of Minnesotans.
