Bill would change ND school transportation funding

BISMARCK, N.D. – North Dakota lawmakers want to reconstruct how school transportation is funded.

Instead of the current model that offers a fixed grant each year, school districts could be reimbursed for each student who needs transportation. Factors for the change include district size, total buildings serviced, and mileage.

The Senate amended the House bill requiring a second vote by the House before being sent to the governor’s desk.
