Wild down Sharks in Eriksson Ek and Kaprizov’s return to the lineup

The Minnesota Wild edged the San Jose Sharks 8-7 in overtime on a record setting night for goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

The victory was Fleury’s NHL record 70th overtime victory of his career. He saved 24 of the 31 shots he faced in net.

In their return to the lineup, both Joel Eriksson Ek and Kirill Kaprizov each played pivotal roles in Minnesota’s win. Eriksson Ek scored four goals, while Kaprizov added two goals and an assist. Kaprizov’s second goal was the game-winner in overtime. Marcus Johansson and Brock Faber each added a goal in the game.

The Wild currently hold the top Wild Card spot with 93 points. Minnesota three games remaining in the regular season. The St. Louis Blues also have 93 points while holding the Second Wild Card, but only have two games remaining. The Calgary Flames are in the hunt with 88 points, while having four games remaining on their regular season schedule.

Minnesota will be in Calgary on Friday night to battle the Flames. Puck drop will be scheduled for 9 p.m.
