(FARGO, ND) — Police are warning of a new scam targeting North Dakotans.
The Fargo Police Department reports residents have been targeted by scam artists claiming to be raising money for police officer training. The perpetrators reportedly ask to be paid via credit card or gift card. The police department insists it will never call residents to solicit donations for such training.
It recommends that anyone who receives one of these calls should hang up immediately and call the law enforcement agency used by the caller to confirm the legitimacy of the call.
