Walz to state agencies: Prepare for federal funding cuts

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is telling the heads of his state agencies to prepare for any federal funds they receive to get cut as the Trump administration aims to slash spending.

The Department of Management and Budget reports that the state has received over 23 billion dollars in federal funds this current fiscal year that ends June 30. Just this week, Minnesota’s Health Department laid off dozens of employees after 220 million dollars in approved funds were eliminated.

Governor Walz said his staff is working on creating a dashboard for residents to keep track of what areas are affected and others that could be in the future.
