(CASS COUNTY, ND) – Scam artists are apparently using local law enforcement’s identities in an attempt to take advantage of their victims.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve learned of a scam in which the scam artist attempts to inform residents that their incarcerated family member qualifies for the sheriff’s office ankle bracelet monitoring program. They then request electronic payment before participation begins.
Authorities say they only accept payment in the form of cash or money order in person at the Cass County Jail.
