(MANDAN, ND) — A jury has reached a verdict in a civil trial related to the Dakota Access Pipeline protesting and has found an environmental group liable for damages.
Greenpeace will now have to pay out hundreds of millions of dollars to Energy Transfer Partners, the pipeline company that filed the lawsuit.
The decision comes after the jury deliberated for more than two days.
The case is connected to demonstrations against the pipeline project back in 2016 and 2017 that gained national attention.
It’s unclear if Greenpeace plans to appeal the verdict.
